Lots of good things to say about this book - I knew nothing about patsy Jefferson and she was a great lady to learn about. Loved all the details about women's lives in and around the American Revolution and the issues of slavery and abolitionism in Virginia. Sally Hemings is featured prominently in the book along with all the issues there. I learned so much about Thomas Jefferson, his extended family and politics during that time. I purchased this audiobook because it landed in a lot of 'best of' lists for 2016 historical fiction, one of my favorite genres. It also touched on a favored part of history for me, which clinched it.
Overall, I found merit in this book. I was more than a bit dubious at the start, as it seemed to be more 'romantical' than historical.
