A truly beautiful story of Thomas Mann's decision to part with Germany after Hitler's rise to power. He loved Germany and language, the power of words, and truly hated the idea of leaving Germany behind. He debated long about what his response to the new Reich should be. He wrote a letter and the question was whether to let it be published or not.
