August 9, 1783, Captain Henry Wilson on the East India Company Ship Antelope, encountered a storm that forced the ship to hit a reef, and become unworthy. They were able to lower the lifeboats and make it to shore. They had landed on Ulong (an island in the Palau group). Here they met the friendly natives who were very gracious to them, and they were able to build a new ship to take them home again.

This was a very fascinating account of Palau.
