A couple of months ago, my boyfriend's 11-year-old daughter had just gotten off the school bus and was walking up her street when she was approached by a stranger. He grabbed her arm and tried to drag her off but she was able to yell and scream and get away from him and run down the street. He ran away in the opposite direction. She and another girl he approached on the same day have identified him from photographs but he is still at large.

This is a reasonable portrayal of turmoil a mother suffers when her child is abducted. As a single mom myself I could not help relate to the struggle that Rachel went through.

There is also an unresolved angle in DI Clemo's life that I kept thinking will play a part in the story, but of course this will be a hook for the next title in the series.

This would be enjoyable as a beach read - it's undemanding and doesn't delve too deeply into anything.
