This is my first book of 2020 and I read it quickly (audio) because it is tense and dramatic, and I needed to find out what happened to the Pretty Girls. The female narrator was fantastic. Oh my heart... I love thrillers, but I despise gore and grisly, graphic murders - this has both in abundance. This book is GRAPHIC. I won't spoil it by telling any details of the story, however, I will disclose a bit more about how graphic it is, so don't read further if you are okay w/it so far.

This book is attracting the kind of reviews that I usually associate with New Adult or YA Paranormal romances ... the gifs, the pictures of the characters, the squeeing, the dismissive reviews ... I feel confused, like I need to read it for myself. I do like a good thriller.

I hated it. I probably won’t read anything else by this author. It was repetitive, implausible, and horrifically graphic. It should come with a content warning, and I don’t often say that about books. I love creepy thrillers but this one goes too far. You find out very very early on what I’m about to tell you: this book contains extremely graphic descriptions of teenage girls being tortured, beheaded, and raped as they die. Over. And over. And over again.

I generally learn a lot when reading a book such as this one which has a psychopath as a main character and this was no exception. My one complaint is that this story could have been told more effectively in far fewer pages.
