This is one of the most delicious and also heart-wrenching book I have read in a very long time. The entire story takes place in Paris, beginning in the Jazz Age of the 1920s, moving through the Depression of the 1930s and then through World War 2. At times it reminded me of Hemingway's A MOVEABLE FEAST, possibly my favorite book of all time. There is even a character who is an American expatriate writer who is rather Hemingway-esque and who spends good amount of time actually complaining about ...more
