What Members Thought

It is difficult to process the drinking from a firehose which is this book. I was able to enjoy the cold swallow which was the poetry and beauty of the writing and it’s lyric, but the rest was a blast to the face of deep pain, and guilt of being one of “those that think they are white”, a dreamer who has benefited from the loaded dice of fate when confronted with a clear view of those that this benefit was built upon.

Sad and profound. I couldn't put this down.

Couldn’t get into it on first or second attempts within the past 2yrs. Not sure why it worked better this time, but overall glad I read it. Some parts so hard to follow - maybe my brain was having trouble with literary writing rather than science writing or fiction. Other parts so beautiful. Clearly his message is for his son, and not aimed at changing minds or unsettling any “Dreamers” but he added layers to other things I’ve been reading so I’m thankful.
