This was fun. 16th century legal thriller, which perhaps does not immediately call up "fun," but it was a bit reminiscent of the Lady's Number 1 Detective books (except that I liked this book). Mara, Brehon of the Burren, is Ireland's one and only kick-ass female Brehon (or lawgiver). I wonder about the medical expertise sown by the characters in the 16th century and their lack of prejudice toward women in powerful positions.
