As the title of this work implies, the Paraguayan war of 1864-1870 was forgotten because it was overshadowed by the U.S. Civil War that was winding up. The Paraguayan War was also called the War of the Triple Alliance, and in Paraguay it is called the Great War. It is considered one of the worst wars in Latin American history.
