I can't remember how I first heard about Yoshimura. I have always had an interest in Japanese fiction. Unfortunately not many of his books are translated into English, fortunately this one is. If there is a first book you can read by an author I'd be hard pressed to find a better one. It is a simply written, yet beautiful story of a man trying to adjust to life after spending decades in jail for murdering his wife.
