I got through it somehow and it is perplexing because this writer has some truly beautiful passages that were fun to highlight.
But overall, this has both the most unbelievable and unrealistic plot AND characters I have ever encountered in my life and a really crappy message about how no matter how much trauma you experience you should just be codependent on your (completely unrealistically successful) friends and never tell them anything or get any professional help whatsoever.

I've read 3 books after A Little Life, but I still get flashbacks and teary eyed almost every day thinking about Jude, Willem, Malcolm and JB. It's the kind of book that stays with you for a long time.

A gem of a book. Beautiful, haunting, tragic. One of the best books I have ever read. I will never forget it.
