I have really enjoyed the other books I've read by Yehoshua, all of which are set in the 1960s or later, so I was looking forward to reading something completely different by him set in the late 900s. The first half of the book was slow but rewarding. The premise is unique--a man buys a ship and sails from Morocco around the coast of France to the mouth of the Seine to go to Paris and confront his former business partner whose new wife has forced him to end the partnership over polygamy. A very interesting novel which I enjoyed very much. Especially I liked very much the accurate depiction of medieval Europe.
