Picked this up as part of my digression into Finnish fiction in translation, having really enjoyed the author's debut many years ago. The story is set in a near-future where bee colony collapse disorder has reached epidemic proportions, devastating the food supplies of North America, and threatening to do so world-wide. Middle-aged divorcee Orvo putters around his land in the Finnish countryside, tending to his bees, only to discover one day that they too are suddenly missing.
