This is beautiful whimsical tale that is touching and heartfelt. I enjoyed every page and wished to be swimming in the ocean with each turn of the page. I think it straddled the middle-grade/young adult border, but would be enjoyed by any age. It would be hard not to wish mermaids were real after reading The Mermaid's Mirror.
