I love dual timeline novels, usually. I also have loved every Kate Morton novel I've read thus far. This is my fourth and won't be my last, I hope.
What I love:
the atmospheric and historical aspects
characters with multiple problems to resolve
mystery and intrigue of unexpected situations
a manor house with a personality of its own

This is a substantial book in which Morton handles multiple points of view, interweaving plots and alternating timelines with the skill of the accomplished writer that she is. By virtue of her brilliant grip on the plot and her fleshed-out characters, the smooth transitions between the different narrators and periods are easy to follow and make for a cohesive and pleasurable read.
