She turned her face away to hide her wounded reaction. “I’m sorry.”
“Not what I meant.” He sounded drunk. With his healthy hand, he nudged her jaw until she faced him. “You’re too beautiful. It hurts.”
Wonderful. Now he was hallucinating.

After the highs found in both the first book and the second one, this third installment in the Spindle Cove series wasn’t quite up to snuff. Ordinarily I love tortured, distant heroes, but even this wasn’t enough to overcome what was often a dull story with very little character development. Moreover, the obstacle to the couple’s love wasn’t multilayered or multidimensional, so the continuing angst over it was tiresome.
