The Blazing World, Siri Hustvedt’s new book about the contemporary art world, is such a compelling read that it’s worth trudging through what are at times very dense meditations on gender, art, perceptions and meaning, bias, and prejudice, liberally sprinkled with Kiekegaard’s and Husserl’s theories on identity and the self as well as a good heaping of references to the lives of obscure historic figures.

Really excellent. 4.5 stars. 5 if I wasn't so stingy with the stars. If I was a different person, one that accumulated information, probably would have given it 5. Or 3.
