A multigenerational narrative set in Baltimore with an “Every Family” vibe where it “ordinariness” was both it great strength and greatest weakness for me.

I really cannot remember reading any Anne Tyler in the past 15 years and did not think I was a fan, but I loved this book. I agree with all the reviews which complained that nothing really happens, and yet every chapter was charming and lovely. I guess I really love her writing style and I became very fond of all the members of the Whitshank family. . The house was also such a character in the book - I kept thinking of the house in Meet me in St. Louis - I will have to read more of her books. Si
