Meh.
Having loved 'Still Alice', I was excited to read this. And it started off well. She nailed the blue-collar cop character, his simple god-fearing wife, a dead-beat son, a successful son, and two daughters – one confident, one not. Genova's strong points are her character development and her teaching us readers details about diseases we're not too familiar with. Her weak point with this particular novel was her pacing, and then she slipped out of character a bit in the end.
