This book was reminiscent of Murakami in its' coming of age story, amidst troubled times in South Korea. A group of university friends, each with their own issues, come together to find their way in this world. I read this without knowing that the author wrote Please Look After Mom. I liked this book so much that I had to find out what else she wrote. ...more

This book was a lucky random find in the public library, by an author of whom I knew nothing, and doesn't seem to have lost anything in translation. The story is set in South Korea in the 1980s and 90's and (as the author says) is the story of young people living in tragic times. "It is also the story of people who find themselves separated, despite their love for each other, because they carry wounds that are too deep to overcome".
