The Story of Malta was published in 1893. The observations in this book are quite detailed, and I think if I were to travel to Malta, I would be able to use the book as a guide.
Ballou writes extensively on the capital city of Valletta, its' streets, fortresses and people. He gives a wonderful history of the islands, and the history of The Knights of St. John is truly fascinating.
