I found the premise here fascinating, and Scalzi does a nice job of anticipating and working with the moral and ethical implications of the potential solutions to the condition in his story. There's a lot more territory that could mined here, so I'm eager to see where he takes it. As a series starter this necessarily gets into some heavy doses of exposition as the circumstances of this world are established, but overall it moves well, even if the reveal of the culprit is somewhat obvious.

While it took some time to follow the author's train of thought about the group of people who were paralyzed except for their cognitive brains, the dots were eventually connected to produce an entertaining and somewht thought provoking read.
