Sweet, bright, fun, and even thoughtful. Loved this WAY more than I expected to. Could've done with some more characters of color, Jack's end sequence climbing up the hill was just odd, and the subplot about standards of beauty didn't need to slut-shame as it did. But both characters developed beautifully, dealing with coming-of-age issues that are universal across time, and their romance was just lovely. I never expected to think of this as anything more than typical young adult romance schlock
