Reading this as it is an award-winner, but also as a preview before my kids read it. I don't think they will read it for awhile though as it is too creepy for them and is believable enough that it would haunt them with nightmares. Imaginative, but scary and I think suited for a middle schooler or older, especially as it addresses the theme of growing up and becoming independent as an adolescent. ...more

This is perfect for middle grade readers who love a good, well-written ghost story. It has just the right amount of spooky for young readers. It would make an excellent Halloween-time read aloud.
