I read this book for a college course and found it fairly intriguing. The descriptions of San Francisco are amazing and the fog seems to engulf the characters described. It is an interesting tale of the struggles of immigrants, and you can honestly understand both parties points of view.

What a downer. This book really demostrates how greed and lust can completely ruin a person's life. Dubus does an amazing job evoking sympathy for both Behrani and Kathy, and even Lester. Though I was often very frustrated with Lester and even more so with Kathy's seeming inablity to get control of her life, just gliding along taking whatever comes.
