What Members Thought

I read this delightful novel, written some time ago, on Audio thanks to Libby app. I enjoyed the narrator, Morgan Hallett, very much and she made it easy, interesting and compelling.
I struggled during the first third because Casssandra was such a whiney, dreary, PITA, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to stick with it if it continued that way. Thankfully it was setting the stage +.
This is about twin sisters, now in their early 30’s, who have been extremely close throughout their lives, but things are ...more

I wonder what people thought of this when it first came out.

Written in 1962 about two identical twins, one getting married, one very convinced that their lives should only be lived with each other. I loved the bohemian family of intellectuals and their self-sufficient lives on a ranch. I loved the idea that we can find our identities within our nuclear families and their tastes, inside jokes, and disdained behaviors. And I also loved the recognition that, of course, that can never be enough. The world is out there for a reason and best to be in it.
