An excellent book, Lost and Found tells the story of seven-year-old Millie, whose father has died and whose mother abandons her. She hides for a while in a department store, where her mother left her, waiting for the mother to come back and get her, which does not happen. Millie is a very resourceful child and does her best, which is heart-rending to read, and also to recognize as a reader that this happens to many children many times in real life, sadly.
