Food is to eat, not to read about. Family dynamics just a bit too odd for me.

It's set up nicely, intensifies, has humor and tragedy. It falls a little flat in the end.
p. 206 the key to parenting -- "rendering oneself obsolete"
I wish she'd included the cookie recipes.
"Yellow vegetables for happiness," I corrected her. The Iraqi Jews ate according to color. "White for purity, green apples for hope and prosperity."
They never eat black foods, even skin their eggplants.
