I've read everything by this author but had missed this, her second novel. I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as others. The story itself is good and shows where her inspiration for her more recent fantasy novels has come from. However, it isn't as well-written as her other novels and the plot is quite convoluted with too many characters. ...more
