I love her writing, but this book was just plain odd. I didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would. It was just too 'out there' for me - to the point that it felt like a fantasy novel. I thought it would be creepier. Just meh.

There is something I find inherently cringe about schaudenfreude porn. I really struggle with novels that follow a privileged character around as they wholeheartedly ruin their lives and waste every opportunity afforded them. (See: Catcher in the Rye. Where the Crawdad’s Sing.)
