I really liked Savage Girl, the story of a feral young woman who’s plucked from a freak show in a Nevada mining town and plopped into high society New York. This one is all about setting, setting, setting, though there’s a pretty intriguing murder mystery too. I loved the way Zimmerman takes us gliding through the excesses of the Gilded Age. I have tiny quibbles about characterization (not sure it’s consistent or deep in a few places) and I felt like the nature vs. nurture theme could’ve gone fu
