I love Nesbo's Harry Hole series but never read his standalones before. And in my opinion, Nesbo better sticks to Harry Hole's stories!!!
The plot of The Son is pretty decent, a revenge story is always fascinating and you can't help but rooting for the underdog. But... the story here is quite far fetched. The theme of social consciousness typical of Scandinavian literature is alive and well in this one, though it is not as dark and gloomy as some others.
A solid book. Liked the ending. Although not an ensemble cast I could really bring myself to care about. Having just recently finished binge-reading Nesbo's Hole series, can see elements that series with similar-type actors that Nesbo used in this book.
