Listened to the audio version of this book which I would highly recommend. I put off reading this for quite awhile, figuring a novel about a crabby old man would be a bore. But this story was so charming, funny, and life-affirming...not perfect, but I loved this book! Finished on the ride home from work and am already missing Ove and friends.

I got this book thinking it might be good for summer school but it's not quite right. I totally fell in love with the love story and couldn't put it down.

I know I am supposed to love this book - international best seller and all that - but I found Ove tough to like and the story generally sad. It does not paint a nice picture of old age and the fact that he is acting this way at age 59 is even more depressing. For the first half of the book I thought he was 80. There were a few enjoyable moments like when when he gets the best of the men in black suits and how he causes the neighbors to band together. My favorite scenes all had to do with the cat
