I think we've all been there: you pretty much know you're not going to like the book, but you read it anyway, because all your friends love it, and every once in a while you're surprised and LOVE the book, and that small chance at love keeps you coming back again and again. But usually your intuition was correct and you hate the book. I hated this book. I never should have read it. It's not that it's a BAD book, it's just that this is not the book for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Ove is a delightful protagonist as the resident Oscar the Grouch. The structure of alternating chapters (flashbacks and present day), which I don't usually care for, works well for the book. Overall a sweet and light hearted book.

I don't often read a book that I feel I can recommend to pretty much anyone and everyone, but I read this one back in August and when it came into our store today, I immediately slapped staff pick stickers on all the copies. I had checked every day for the last week to see if it had come in yet so that I could. This book is wonderful! When I read it I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with Ove. I loved this book. Ove's curmudgeonly ways were both funny and exasperating but I couldn't see him any other way. Nothing much happens in the book but that's what makes it so wonderful. It's a quick read that requires tissues.
