I'm a big fan of Michael Connelly, and this is one of his best. So many unexpected twists, terrific audio performance, and the pages just effortlessly keep turning. Also, Connelly doesn't drift down the sex and violence and gore hallways when he writes thrillers. He keeps those things to a minimum, considering that the book is, in essence, a murder mystery. This is something I really appreciate.

I initially resisted my affections for Mickey. After all, he wasn't Harry. But I'd been advised to read Connelly's novels by year of publication since some characters show up in later novels, whether they are the main focus or not. My resistance started crumbling and soon I was so caught up in the book I stayed up way 'past my bedtime' to finish it. Liked the book as well as the movie. Short chapters (sign of a good summer read) that kept me reading just one more. Interesting look into the way lawyers manipulate their cases. Since I dont watch CSI or Law and order, this is a fun change for me.

Mickey Haller is a defense lawyer working in Los Angeles. He is hired by Louis Roulet to defend him when he is accused of attempting to rape and murder a woman. I really liked how the book went into how Mickey performed his job as a defense lawyer and all of his smaller cases. A good twisty book.
