part his clientele are drug dealers, until he gets a case
to defend a Beverly Hills realtor arrested for assualting
a woman. What seems to be an easy case, a set-up to scam
money out of the wealthy realtor, turns into a superb
thriller!

Three stars because I figured it out a long time before it was over- and no, I haven't seen the movie :) Well-paced suspense story with lots of interesting characters. I'd recommend this book and will probably read the next in the series.

Connelly is a very gifted writer, and I absolutely love this one - I'm an admitted sucker for characters struggling with ethical dilemmas and Mickey Haller certainly has them in spades here. This is definitely a "how the sausage is made" story about our criminal justice system, and I love when a writer can present an honest view of the system's failings while still making you believe that it can work and it's worth fighting to preserve what works and improve what doesn't.
