At first, I wasn't really loving this book. I was sort of expecting another Art of Racing in the Rain, and this ain't it! However, as I progressed into the story, perhaps letting my expectations fall away, I really started to like it. What a twisted family, the Riddells! I loved Trevor and this did become a beautiful 'coming of age' book. I think it's one that will stick with me for quite some time.

Trevor Riddell travels to the Seattle area with his father Jones to try to get Jones father Samuel to sell Riddell house and the property it stands on. Jones sister Serena wants the house sold but Trevor soon discovers that the ghost of his ancestor Benjamin is stuck in the house until the are becomes a park and is allowed to revert to forest. I liked the themes of protecting the environment and the connectedness of all life.

I had great anticipation for the release of this book and it did not disappoint. A family story of lumber tycoons, fortunes gained and lost, ghosts, secrets and legacies. The story revolves around the family's history and the beautiful family estate. Trevor is 14 years old and meeting his father's family for the first time.
