Police constable Hamish Macbeth investigates the murder of a beautiful young local woman who apparently had lots of enemies. But Hamish's biggest challenge may be the Hamish-obsessed young policewoman assigned to work with him. Will Hamish solve the murder? Of course. Will he escape matrimony yet again? Will he finally propose to the witty and intelligent journalist, Elspeth Grant whom we all know is perfect for him? These books are really quite silly and therefore, a perfect light read. ...more

As usual with this series a light hearted murder mystery set in Sutherland. Even Hamish complains there are too many suspects - I had to keep flicking back and forth to remember who was who.
