Books become cult classics for all manner of reasons -- style, tone, subject matter, etc. but the charms of this 1929 novel from Argentina failed to resonate with me and I gave up on it halfway through. I had picked it up after making my way through six or seven contemporary Argentine books, and I was seeking something not from the previous generation of writers, but further back.
