Well written, seemed to be well researched, but I just didn't "get" it. The emotional dilemmas and motivations of the characters puzzled me, and I felt like I was supposed to understand something from the ending that I just couldn't figure out. :-( It did make me want to seek out other geneological mysteries, though. Seems like a promising genre!

A good first novel. Includes a bit of mystery from the past. Setting throughout Europe in a twenty-something's search for identity. I enjoyed it.

The historical thread of Imogen and Ashley seems far stronger than Tristan's modern search to reconstruct their story, although I will freely admit to a long-standing interest in the Great War and its aftermath, so that may color my thinking a bit. The letters between the two are wonderfully well-crafted and their romance definitely tugs the heartstrings.
