A filmmaker (the narrator) travels to the plains of Australia, to capture the meaning of it, once and for all. The narrator believes he is the only one who can interpret the landscape, and its' large estate landowning people (who are white colonizers). The Plains people believe they are not a part of Australia, and yet they know they are surrounded by Australia.
