What Members Thought

The drama keeps building in Elena's life and everything from the past connects to the present somehow. The world that Ferrante builds is captivating and immersing. The struggle Elena has in her 30s is somehow still the same as her childhood and yet also completely new. Always it is a struggle to define herself and her purpose and what that means in her world and with the people around her. I could read about Elena and Lila forever.

Compared to the first two, I found this fairly disappointing.
I really missed the setting of Naples and the old circle of people in who I had built up an interest.
The new people in the North and Elena's married life were just boring. Wasn't a fan of the later development either, but I hope Ferrante can steer this to a great ending in the last book. ...more

Loved the energy at the end but the middle felt bulky to me.
