Big hearted and charming. Midwestern references I could truly appreciate. A good solid story of friendship among men, a nice break away from all the stories available about women and friendship. Good stuff.

Bleeding with masculinity, I wasn't so sure how much I would enjoy this book when I first started it. But the characters grew on me, and the Wisconsin geography (and winter) became it's own separate entity, like another man living in the small town plains. The last chapter had me cringing, but I can understand why the author wrote it this way.

I received an ARC from Bookreporter.com. As a native of Wisconsin, I have a predilection to like books that capture with authenticity the Midwestern experience. In that regard, Shotgun Lovesongs by Nickolas Butler fully delivers. I enjoyed this book at level 4 1/2
I enjoyed the reflective nature of the way the characters told the story at level 5.
I enjoyed the value of family, friendship and loyalty at level 5.
As a piece of literature that will stand the test of time ? 2
