I got this as a free book from Amazon Kindle, so I wasn't expecting much. When I started to read, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the unexpected wit the author showed, and the clever turn of phrase. Unfortunately, my delight at finding this book didn't last all the way through my reading. I ultimately enjoyed it, yes, but Jolie is probably one of the main reasons I didn't enjoy it more. I have received copies of book 4 and book 5 of this series to read for review. But having never read the series, I thought it would be a good idea to at least read the first in the series before tackling my review copies. I'm glad I did. I found that I really like the characters that were introduced in Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble and I'm assuming that at least some of them will be in the fourth and fifth book. Reading this for a book challenge with the word "fire" In the title...the only reason I am reading this. Annoyed with the stupidity of Jolie within the first quarter of the book. Not really looking forward to whatever additional trouble lies ahead as she learns to control her magic. Not terribly interested in how her relationship with Rand develops either.
