I read this for the 2015 PopSugar challenge. Liked the movie better than the book and am not rushing to encourage my kids to read this though they have already seen the movie with me. I liked the action of the movie though it was nice to get inside the character's heads better with the book. ...more

This is my second encounter with this novel, the first occurring as my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. McCauley, chose The Princess Bride as one of her read aloud novels for the school year. I remember, even now almost 30 years later, my feelings as she read of Inigo and Fezzik approaching the door to the 5th level in the zoo and knowing what was awaiting them. I must say that, compared to the movie, I prefer the book up until the ending--and then the movie has my vote. That being said, the movie is s ...more
