I really struggled with this one. The author's abridgments made it even worse. Just when I had forced myself to concentrate on the characters and the plot the author interrupted the story to say he was taking out parts that were in the original manuscript. Even if this tome was, in fact, supposed to be a satire on novelists and writing in my mind it failed miserably. ...more

This is a quick and fun read! The movie followed it very closely. It’s not very literary, but the plot is fun and the creativity of certain parts makes it interesting. 3.5 stars!
