So... this book has so many things to discuss. In the surface, it looks like the usual fairy tale/fantasy/romance/adventure book- with damsel in distress, flawless "prince charming" and all the crazy villains. But the background of the story- how the writer, William Goldman, told about his involvement with the book (as if it's true but turned out only another fiction!!) - create some wittiness in the story, and so many layers that are too complicated to be discussed one by one. I loved the movie, and always wondered about the book. I also thought that Rob Reiner must've added the framing device of the grandfather reading to his grandson--but surprise! It actually is part of the book (altho Reiner changed it some). Goldman's framing device in the book is hilarious, and the adventures of Westley, Buttercup, Inigo and Fezzik are as funny and wonderful to read as to watch. I'd love to visit Florin some day :)

A very enjoyable read. I've seen the movie a few times, so I "heard" the book in my head with the voices from the movie. And I found myself trying to remember, "Was this scene in the movie?".
