How do the rich live? Fanny tells the story of the lives of the very affluent of her time, those who focus on the social gatherings of their circle and the clothes that keep up appearances. It's not a pretty picture. The rich are no happier than the poor. They are directionless and lost and they do not even have the requirements of obligations to keeping a house or maintaining a job or caring for others to offer them stability. Instead they spiral into wild and erratic behaviors.

I loved this book. First of all, it's really funny which I wasn't expecting at all. I also love stories about the British aristocracy and it's even better when they're being poked at and mocked. I can't say anything much happens, there's a scandal of course but it's somewhat predictable. It's just the way that everyone handles everything and Lady Montdore never stops being funny in her shocking heartlessness. If you like Downton Abbey or Jane Austen you'd definitely enjoy this book.
