One of my favorite novels from years and years ago. I discovered this beauty when looking for summer books to read to my 7 year old daughter while we visited family in Chicago.
This was a perfect book as it was about children from Chicago visiting grandparents over the summer. We took our time and truly loved it.
I began reading it to my classroom of 3rd or 4th graders who also enjoyed it as an after summer vacation read. Highly recommend.

The stories within build in their interest, but I don’t have much love for this book after completing it. While the activities of the bother and sister with their grandma were outlandish, I felt like I could have stopped listening to the audiobook at any time and felt am satisfied. The pacing of the book was slow and I listened to this at regular speed on the player, as it seemed to have rushed anything would have lessened the story.
