Maeve Binchy is one of my favorite female Irish writers, at least she was during the 1970's through 1990's.
I have Irish and Scottish blood on both sides of my US family, and have always felt a stronger connection to my Irish roots than that of the German or French. And I love novels set in Ireland and Scotland, and even England.
There's something about the amazing history, the struggles, and the no-nonsense approach. And if you listen on audio, you usually end up transported to their countries. ...more

Not my cup of tea. I thought I would enjoy the short-story format as I was traveling while reading this and I could read a story or two here or there during my downtime, but I found most of the stories to be depressing. I tried to enjoy taking a peek into someone else's life and especially their thoughts when they encountered a conflict, but it wasn't that interesting to me the problems that these characters faced.
